LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

Develops with Board of Directors legislative initiatives, be a Key Contact to a Legislator, educate the membership and public on legislative and regulatory issues affecting healthcare.

EDITORIAL BOARD 

To advise and coordinate editorial activities of the Association’s official publication, The Record.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

To monitor EMS county-wide operations, share in areas of concern, develop and implement strategies to improve the delivery of EMS services. This is attended by representatives from hospital staffs, EMS (paramedics, fire chiefs, etc.), and BCMA members. 

MEDICAL STAFF ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

Support the autonomy and proper functioning of hospital medical staffs by evaluating problems brought by medical staff physicians to the Committee

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Help to develop methods of recruiting and retaining members.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Represents the BCMA at professional functions, speaking engagements, and community activities. Plans activities to highlight the activities and contributions of the BCMA.

PUBLIC HEALTH

Reviews public health initiatives and addresses any problem areas and plans events to educate the BCMA physicians as well as the public on public health issues.

EMPLOYED PHYSICIANS INTEREST GROUP (Includes all interested members)

Interest group that meets for social, networking, sharing common problems, etc. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

IMMUNIZATION TASK FORCE

Reviews the current immunization status of patients in Broward County. Plans programs to educate           physicians and patients on immunization recommendations.

MEDICAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Develops and implements educational events/programs that are of interest to a large proportion of the general BCMA membership. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

NOVA UNIVERSITY LIAISON COMMITTEE

The goals/ objectives will be to create a working relationship of BCMA and Nova Southeastern Osteopathic Medical School and the Physician Assistant Program in the following way:

• Explore ways that Nova University and BCMA can support the initiatives of both organizations
• To develop joint initiatives involving physician and patient education,advocacy, and service
• To incorporate academic staff, medical students, and physician assistants in the developmental implrmentation of BOD project and community related health issues
• By joining efforts, it is anticipated that there can be economy of scale and expansion of services without duplication of efforts/financial outlay.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT LIAISON GROUP

Works with the BCMA PA members and BCMA membes who work with PAs to address the needs of PAs working in Broward County. Plans methods of involving this group in all activities of the BCMA. Develops educational, networking, and social activities for PA and supervising physicians. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

Develops educational ideas/programs on interest to general members.  Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

PRIMARY CARE INTEREST GROUP (All interested members may join)

Develops educational, networking, and social activities for members practicing primary care medicine. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter (and others)

Develops content and posts blogs on Facebook, ceates BCMA Twitter tweets, invites BCMA members to LinkedIn and engages members in all of these social media. 

WOMEN PHYSICIANS

Plans, develops, and conducts networking/educational/social events for the Women Physician Interest group of the BCMA. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.

WEBSITE

Develops content, articles, makes structural change recommendations

YOUNG PHYSICIANS/NEW TO PRACTICE INTEREST GROUP (Includes all interested members)

Plans, develops, and conducts networking, educational,and social events for the Young Physicians and New to Practice Interest group of the BCMA. Works with Executive-Vice President to plan, promote, and present.
